Longleat Estate and Center Parks are on your doorstep, with the famous safari park a very short drive away.

If you like walking Stourhead (9 miles) and Shearwater (3 miles) are close. Only half a mile away is Cley Hill where you can stroll up and have a wonderful view of the countryside.

The world famous sites of Bath and Wells are both about 12 miles away. On the way to Bath is Farleigh Hungerford which has the ruins of a castle which is great for kids to run around in and after that go down to the farm and have a wonderful cream tea.

Frome is 4 miles and has a good market on Wednesday and Saturday and on the 1st Sunday of the month there is a great artisan market. There are also lots of interesting retro shops - check out Catherine Hill and Cheap Street. There is a really nice vegetarian cafe called The Garden and a new cafe called The River House, it is known well for its all day breakfast varieties.

Bruton is 12 miles and has the wonderful new art gallery/restaurant Hauser & Wirth. With fantastic food and ambiance, this place is a must! There's also The Chapel where the food is equally delicious and it also makes its own bread & pastries. Booking is recommended for The Chapel.

Beckington has a wonderful cafe called Mes Ami, where everything is made on the premises - well worth a visit. Nearby is a very good farm shop called White Rose with a fish stall, fresh vegetables, meat and bread. It also has a restaurant and fish and chip shop.

Babington House is 9 miles and if you're a member of all the Soho clubs you can go there and have a relaxing time.

There is a very good pub at Mells call The Talbot. On the weekend booking is essential. There is also a beautiful walled garden which is open from Easter till September which makes its own pizzas and homemade cakes, all in a lovely setting.
